Ishayas' Ascension is a simple and effective tool for the mind to turn toward inner peace. In every moment and in every experience we have a calm center within our own heart. Ascension is a mechanical technique that helps to develop a direct relationship with the most essential part of our own self - our consciousness. This relationship is built on the foundation of Praise, Gratitude, Love and Compassion - these are the first four Ascension Attitudes. Because Ascension is completely natural it requires no effort. It requires no belief in order for it to work. The Ishayas offer us a practical way to reconnect with the natural functioning of the mind and the body which results in greater harmony in our lives. The by-products of Ascension are profound as the mind finds its greatest happiness in the growing inner peace and the body will have the opportunity to heal and balance itself as the deep rest occurs while Ascending. The practice itself is easy and can be done both eyes open in activity and eyes closed in meditation. Direct experience of using the Ascension Attitudes is what matters. No amount of reading or talking compares with having one's own experience of the truth that is within us at all times. The invitation from the Ishayas is to give this practice a chance and find out how Ascension can improve the quality of your life. The weekend course begins Friday, from 7-10pm, where we teach the basics and the Attitude of Praise. Saturday, from 10am-5pm, we teach the mechanics of Ascension, and add the Attitude of Gratitude and Love. Sunday, from 10am-5pm, we teach Compassion. The course is a mixture of lecture and the experience of meditation. Registration is required. Space is limited and will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Once you complete the course, you may audit (retake) it as often as you like, free of charge. The weekend's topics include: Choice: Its importance and power Thoughts: Creating your life and body Perception: From victim to creator Root Stress: How it affects your life Mechanics of Ascension: How and why it works States of Consciousness: Expanding your awareness The Ascension Attitudes: Beyond the First Sphere You can learn more about ascension at www.theishayafoundation.org and sign up for the course. Or you can call 888-474-2921 with questions or to sign up.

Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility (WPSR) is hosting a screening of Countdown to Zero followed by a question and answer session with a panel of local disarmament experts. Countdown to Zero is a feature film produced by Lawrence Bender (An Inconvenient Truth, Inglorious Bastards) and written and directed by acclaimed documentarian Lucy Walker (The Devil's Playground, Blindsight) that addresses the escalating nuclear arms crisis.
The movie is showing at The Landmark Varsity Theater on University Avenue. The question and answer session will occur immediately after the movie at Cafe Allegro, across the street.
WPSR has secured several FREE TICKETS to this screening and we would love to invite you and your constituency to join us at the screening and the post-film discussion.
DEMAND ZERO: "Countdown to Zero traces the history of the atomic bomb from its origins to the present state of global affairs: nine nations possess nuclear weapons capabilities with others racing to join them, with the world held in a delicate balance that could be shattered by an act of terrorism, failed diplomacy, or a simple accident. Written and directed by acclaimed documentarian Lucy Walker (The Devil’s Playground, Blindsight), the film features an array of important international statesmen, including Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf and Tony Blair.
Countdown to Zero makes a compelling case for worldwide nuclear disarmament, an issue more topical than ever with the Obama administration working to revive this goal today. The film was produced by Academy Award® winner and 2009 nominee Lawrence Bender (Inglourious Basterds, An Inconvenient Truth) and developed, financed and executive produced by Participant Media, together with World Security Institute." taken from: www.takepart.com…
